Looking back at our messages is a guilty pleasure of mine. It makes me laugh and cry and die a little on the inside. It’s taking me awhile to reconcile your words; how you constantly stated your desire to marry me, only to turn around to say you never wanted me all along. To borrow one of your favorite phrases, I shall take comfort in knowing that you did love me once upon a time. And perhaps that is all I can ever ask for.

"I love you, but I’m mad at you is one of the most freeing, important things you can say in a stable relationship. Does that make sense? To know that you have the ability and the right to be mad at someone and know that it doesn’t mean things are over, that it doesn’t mean things are irreparable. That it just means I’m mad, but God, I love you. I love you. Now leave me alone."
